The
last few days, I've been thinking of all the birth moms, around the
world, who for various reasons are not able to be mama's to their
precious children. They are not the ones who
get to hear the words "Happy Mother's Day" from their babies tomorrow.
They will not hear the sweet voice of a child, telling them that they
are loved, "to the moon and back."
Today,
as I reflect on the decision these mom's have made, I also think of all
the mama's who give up their children, due to poverty. Adoption is
truly a miracle...when it is necessary. But when a child has a mama who
truly desires to keep her child, but is unable to do so, due to
finances, adoption is not the solution. Children belong with their
mama!

Many people assume that if an infant is abandoned they are unwanted. The problem with this assumption is that many times children are abandoned because their caregivers are unable to care for them, not because they don’t want them. They (these mamas) want what's best for their child, and due to their financial situation, they know they are unable to care for their children, as they would want.
I hate to hear of mamas who have given up their children, because they were desperate. These mamas need support so they can keep their children, as God intended, not feel hopeless and forced to believe they have no choice, but give them up!
The mama's needing sponsored through Project Hopeful, may appear to be children themselves. However, these mama's have taken the twists and turns of their life events, like someone way beyond their years. They are doing it! They have found a way for their babies to remain with them, and by God's grace and supporters like me and you, they will continue to raise their babies in love. And their children will never know the process of building a family through adoption that is wrought with pain, born in heartbreak and full of challenges.
