2009 was a year of great learning for me. I traveled to China where for the first time, my eyes were opened to true poverty...I saw children who were unwanted...who were burdens to the country they were born into. These precious children who were perfect in every way, would never know it, because no one was there to tell them otherwise.
I left heartbroken...
and with a mission.
God planted a seed in my soul and my heart,
so that I may carry this Hope to the whole world.
I was to do something...but what??
I asked God to put me in action. I asked Him to help me live out His Word. I desired to Go...Be...Love.
The following summer, I jumped on a plane heading to Zambia, Africa to teach English to some of the most beautiful, big eyed children, I had ever seen.
But what I found was more poverty...more need...
But what I found was more poverty...more need...
Children who had been abandoned, abused....
But I also found children who had HOPE...and a future!
I saw firsthand in these children, the POWER of God. He had changed their hearts and here I found children lifting their voices and hands up to the Lord, in worship.
And so I continued to pray that He would make me a better servant: that He would never let me become numb to the REAL injustice around the world, to show me the NEEDS, and to BREAK my HEART for what hurts HIS.
And He did just that.
I wasn't able to look into the eyes of an orphaned child without being forced to ask myself whatever happened to loving them "in actions and in truth" (1 John 3:18).
A year later, I acted in obedience...
and the rest is HIS-story!
